Understand migrations before running them.
The planned Migrations Inspector puts local Fireway files and emulator migration history beside each other. It will help you review changes without executing code or writing records.
What it will do
Browse local migration files in filename order and inspect source previews, SHA-256 checksums, and modified dates. Compare those files with migration records from your selected Firebase emulator.
Table will summarize migration status; JSON will expose file and record details; Logs will explain inspection progress and failures.
How the planned workflow will work
Link the project’s local workspace in Settings and select its migration folder. Load local files first; this will not need Firebase credentials or execute JavaScript.
For status comparison, select an emulator project and its migration-record collection, such as fireway. Inspect the project, database, and environment before comparing. Local-only files remain unverified until records have been loaded.
Reading migration status
These labels describe the loaded records, not proof that a migration script ran successfully. An applied record without a checksum cannot establish that source contents are unchanged.
- Applied: a record matches the local migration identifier and no known checksum mismatch is detected.
- Pending: a local file has no matching record in the loaded emulator comparison.
- Missing locally: a loaded record has no corresponding local source file.
- Changed / drifted: the local source checksum differs from a stored record checksum.
- Unverified: local files were loaded without a successful record comparison.
Read-only scope
The planned inspector will not execute migration scripts, mark migrations as applied, write records, restore data, or deploy anything. It is intended to work in Free mode and with read-only projects.
Production record browsing is deferred until its authentication flow is verified. Existing development and CLI execution tools are separate from this planned release surface.
Availability
This is advance documentation for planned version 1.3. Migrations Inspector is not available in the current App Store release, version 1.2. There is no announced release date.
